How Much Bedding Do You Really Need?

I recommend one of two choices depending on how you do laundry. If you can wash, dry, and replace your bedding in the same day, then you can get away with one set of bedding per bed. If you find that it works best for you to have one set available to replace onto your bed immediately after you have stripped the set you need to wash, then two sets of bedding per bed makes sense for you.

Storage Solutions that Make Sense for You

So, if you only have one set of bedding per bed that you wash and replace within a day, you are all set! You don’t need to have a designated storage space for extra linens. This is perfect if you live in a tiny studio like I do. I share a full tour of my own studio apartment here.

For those who need to store an extra set per bed, I love using large storage bags like these below. The bottoms typically are the perfect size to set on a standard size shelf in a linen closet or spare bedroom closet. This style bag maximizes the vertical space of a top shelf (found here):

Depending on the size of your comforters, you might be able to fit them in these bags below along with an entire bedding set. The window is super helpful for seeing what you need at a glance (found here):

If you just need to store sheet sets, you can get away with simply folding the set and storing it in one of it’s pillow cases. If you prefer to contain them or just toss them into so you don’t have to worry about folding them, you can use smaller bins like these (found here):

In case some of your bedding sets have some small coordinating pillows you like to switch out, using bins without lids might be most helpful for you (found here):

You can hang spare blankets for each room within the closet or you can use a spare closet to hang blankets with hangers like these (found here):

You can also contain a sheet set in a pillow case and hang them from hangers like these (found here):

For those who love to change out their bedding for decor purposes each season or for special holidays, you will simply keep in mind your space limitations. If you find a new set you would like to purchase, you can purge an old set so that your bedding doesn’t overrun your spaces again. The truly space-limited can utilize space-saving bags. I share how to use hanging sweater organizers to contain decorative toss pillows and other decor here.

I hope you found some ideas for how to organize your bedding for your organizing style and/or the space that you have! In my next post, I share how to organize cleaning products.
