Organizing Solutions for Less

Sometimes, one organizing solution takes care of all that you need. I love it when that happens! So, if your family needs to store bikes, scooters, balls, helmets, and rackets, you can be all set with something like this (found here):

And, sometimes an organizing solution like this is perfectly within budget … and sometimes it’s not. In that case, you can utilize components that are dupes for expensive organizing racks, rails, and systems. Let’s start with bikes, for example.

Bicycle Storage for Less

The simplest, most inexpensive way to store bicycles is to install these simple hooks into the studs (or a board which is screwed into the studs) of your garage wall or ceiling (found here):

For the wall, you just need one hook for the front wheel of each bike when stored vertically. For the ceiling, you will need two hooks for each bike.

Skateboard & Bat Storage for Less

Skateboards can be stored vertically on the wall from the truck of each skateboard on guitar hooks like these (found here):

What’s neat about these is that the hooks are adjustable so you can store more than just skateboards from these including baseball and softball bats!

Ball Storage for Less

Laundry hampers are excellent storage solutions for all those soccer balls, especially if you need to lug them between home, the family van, the fields, and back. Here are a couple with high reviews for durability (found here):

Sorry … cute carrots aren’t included. You can store larger balls in the main basket and smaller balls in the mesh side pockets.

Universal Sports Equipment Organization for Less

Honestly, though I typically like to purchase specific organizing solutions for just what I need for an organizing project, everyone can easily utilize all the specialized hooks that come in a set of garage storage hooks like these (found here):

Here are some examples of how to utilize these hooks for sports equipment:

  • hang tennis racks from the end on any of these hooks
  • hang tennis rackets with the head side up from double hooks that are wide enough to contain the handle
  • hang scooters vertically or horizontally depending how you hang and utilize the hooks
  • hang hockey sticks vertically or horizontally depending how you hang and utilize the hooks

And, for whatever hooks you may have leftover, you can hang cleaning tools, garden tools, etc.

I hope you found some ideas for how to organize your sports equipment for your organizing style and/or the space that you have! In my next post, I share how to organize video games.
