How to Organize Kitchen Appliances on Your Countertops

I recommend only storing appliances you use on a daily basis on your countertops. Your countertops are prime real estate for food preparation. So, keeping them clear is essential for keeping your kitchen clutter-free. I share more clutter-free kitchen tips here.

For any appliances on your countertops that you must slide closer to you (i.e. to fill the coffee machine with water) or any appliances underneath low upper cabinets you need to lift and access the top of (i.e. the coffee maker again), you can use this nifty gadget (found here):

To keep those pesky cords under control, you can use this cord bundler. You simply stick it to the back of your appliance. Then, you bundle up the cord into the strap (found here):

How to Organize Kitchen Appliances in Your Cabinets

I recommend storing appliances you use on a weekly or monthly basis in kitchen cabinets near where you can easily remove the appliance from the cabinet and place it on your countertop. Again, I share how I organize my own kitchen appliances here. Some of your kitchen appliances may have interchangeable parts that need to simply be contained in bins. Depending on the size of your small appliances, you may want to use bins with handles so that they are easy to pull out of your cabinets and transport to your countertops. I don’t recommend using wire baskets especially with wide spaces in between the wires. The cords can slip in between the wires. You can simply use a bin like this (found here):

It helps tremendously to label each bin with a large label so your household knows where to return the appliance. Labeling is especially helpful if you only store the parts to a small appliance in the bin as it can be hard to tell what parts belong to which appliance when separated. Before you purchase any bins, don’t forget to measure your cabinets to make sure they fit! You can use any style of bin you prefer whether woven, or bamboo, or acylic, etc. as long as it is structured enough to contain the weight of your appliance and is the correct size to contain all it’s parts.

How to Organize Kitchen Appliances in Your Pantry or Storage

For any kitchen appliances you may use less frequently, but at least annually, I recommend storing them in a storage place you don’t need to access very frequently. You can store these less frequently used appliances on the top or bottom shelves of your pantry or on storage shelves in your storage closets, garage, or basement, etc. To keep them clean while being stored for longer periods, I recommend using covers like this (found here):

That way, you keep your appliance motor from accumulating dust and keep the exterior clean during long term storage. You can simply throw the cover in the washer as needed.
