Scarf Organization
Before you start organizing your scarves, I highly suggest editing your collection. You don’t want to purchase a bunch of organizing solutions to contain scarves you’re not going to wear. Here is how to properly organize what you do wear.
Towel Organizers
One my favorite ways to organize scarves is to use towel bars. You simply grab your scarf from the middle, loop the middle of the scarf over the rod, and loop your scarf through. Each of your scarves is then nicely displayed as easily accessible. Depending on how many scarves you have, you can utilize a single towel bar (found here):
or tiered towel bars installed on your wall (found here):
or hanging over your door (found here) (I actually used an over-the-door towel organize just like this when I used to wear scarves daily):
You can also use a free-standing towel rack if you don’t have wall or door space (found here):
A blanket ladder is a fun, decorative way to store and display your scarf collection (found here):
Hangers
There are a plethora of scarf hanger options available these days. However, before you purchase just any scarf hanger, there are a few things to keep in mind regarding what types work best.
For quick and easy access to each scarf, a single scarf hanger with an open side is a great organizing solution. There are plenty of single scarf hangers that are a complete circle. That is fine to use especially if you use the hanging method I shared above regarding using towel bars. However, if you find that it is too cumbersome for you to loop each scarf, a scarf hanger with an open side will work better for you as you just need to simply hook your scarf on and off without having to thread it through (found here):
A space-saving scarf hanger option is to utilize a cascading hanger that drops down to take up the space of only one hanger while storing five scarves (found here):
This style scarf hanger below has become quite popular. There are so many different styles of this available that have a few to several circles to loop through. They also are available in different materials. Regarding the number of circles to loop through, I recommend utilizing a scarf hanger that has no more than two rows. You can use the looping method I shared for towel rods above to loop your scarves over the top of the top row and through the bottom of the bottom row. That way, your scarves are less likely to unthread from the other circles when being removed. When there are more than two rows available, it can become quite cumbersome trying to remove individual scarves. Regarding the material, I recommend a snag-free material like this slick chrome hanger (found here):
Decorative Storage Solutions
Your super special scarves deserve to be displayed. You hang a decorative hanger like this one on a beautiful wood hook to display your favorite scarves (found here):
You can also hook your scarves over a decorative over-the-door hook rack making them easily accessible before leaving your room or home depending on where you install this (found here):
To customize your scarf storage and display, you can use beautiful, individual knob hooks on your wall (found here):
Folded Storage Solutions
If you prefer to fold or roll your scarves, here are the best ways to keep them neatly contained and easily accessible.
Individual scarves can be easily visible at a glance when rolled up and stored in a door shoe organizer (found here):
For scarves of varying sizes that may not all fit in a door shoe organizer like the one above, you can utilize a storage solution like this where each scarf is rolled and stored vertically as the windows allow you to see each scarf at a glance (found here):
To store your scarves within drawers, drawer organizers help to contain folded and rolled scarves so they stay in place. Instead of piling scarves on top of each other, I recommend filing them so they are each visible at a glance upon opening your drawer (found here):
To contain scarves on shelves, you can fold or roll them and file them into bins like these (found here):
To store out-of-season scarves, you can fold or roll them and store them in lidded containers like these ones below. The windows make it easy to recognize what scarves are in each so then you need to switch from your ligthweight to your heavier scarves, you can find them in a glance (found here):
I hope you found some ideas for how to organize your scarves for your organizing style and/or the space that you have!
