“My desk is a mesk!”  I used to say that when I shared a desk at one of my first jobs and found it wasn’t in the same state I left it in.  I couldn’t think in a messy space!  Before I could do anything, I had to straighten everything up. The moment I had my own office, it was one of my organizing dreams come true!  Every single item had it’s own designated spot and went right back in that spot the moment I was finished using it.  If the stapler wasn’t at a right angle, it was a wrong angle (where are my *F*R*I*E*N*D*S* fans at?!) Besides organizing my work offices, in each place I lived, I customized my desk to fit my filing system.  Now, working from home, I needed to fit my printer and laminating machine at my desk.  And, of course, I needed these items when I have the smallest office area EVER!  This task was no giant feat that I couldn’t tackle! So, here I share all about how I organize a small office.

My biggest trick?

Use negative space.

The back of the keyboard tray ended up holding all of my staples, stapler, staple remover, wireless adapter, paperclips, AND post-its!  Since the keyboard tray pulls out leaving sufficient leg room when extended, the whole entire area under the desk was usable negative space as well.  A shoe shelf did the trick and held my computer, printer, laminating machine, back-up office supplies, craft supplies, label maker, paper cutter, and paper.  Not to mention, ALL of my paperwork fits in this area as well.

Could my desk BE holding any more things?  Okay, okay … I know … enough with the *F*R*I*E*N*D*S* references.  Do you still think you can’t organize your tiny office?  Let me help you get started organizing your office or desk.  I also share mid-century modern bohemian style office with lots of organizing tips and tricks here!
