The dishware cabinet is one of the most used cabinets in the kitchen. Keeping your dishes organized properly helps to prevent chips and scratches. Shelf-risers can help organize dishware! But do YOU really need them? That depends!
To organize your dishware, if you have all the same size plates or bowls and they fit on the shelf, you don’t! You simply need to grab the plate or bowl from the top of the stack.
If you have different-sized or different-colored plates and bowls, you do, if you want to prevent chips and scratches on your dishware! For example, if you are trying to grab the larger plates from underneath the smaller plates, you will be scratching the surface of the larger plate while possible chipping the rims of the smaller plates nested on top as you trying to slide the larger plates out from under the smaller plates or different-colored plates from the middle of the stack. Do you have shelf-risers in your dishware cabinets?
If not, and you notice you could use these for yourself, here are different options for different purposes and price ranges to organize your dishware:
This small white mesh stackable shelf is featured in the video. It is from The Container Store. We were actually using these for different-sized pots. Then, the kitchen went through a remodel after some damage. We didn’t need to use these for cooking pots any longer and so I re-purposed these shelves for dishware.
This kitchen cabinet organizer shelf in white by Made By Design at Target is not only pretty, it is super durable. If you have some heavy dishes, this is a good choice for you. Nothing will make this metal frame cave in. These aren’t stackable, however. So, if you have to stack multiple types of dishes in taller cabinets, try the product above.
For the hostess with multiple platters, dishes, tasting plates, etc., this Mainstays 3-piece wire shelves set from Walmart can be a great solution. They aren’t stackable though. So, if you need stackable shelves, again, The Container Store version above is a good choice because it comes in many different sizes.
And, if you don’t need multiple sizes, these Essentials white wire cabinet shelves from the Dollar Tree will do. They aren’t going hold anything too heavy, but they will do for small plates and condiment dishes. And you can’t beat the price at the Dollar Tree!
The Dollar Tree also has a corner shelf version which frees up space where the leg of a standard cabinet shelf would be. Again, these are great for lighter weight options. If that’s all you need, then these are just perfect. There aren’t any shelf risers out there that come close to the Dollar Tree price!
Here is an excellent option from Amazon that can look great even outside of your kitchen cabinet:

And, a quick reminder, if you haven’t started my finance organizing challenge yet, it is still available here. I had my debt payoff video ready to post last Thursday but had technical difficulties. I appreciate your patience with me as I work out the kinks to ensure the video is functioning properly.
Until then … Happy Organizing!
