Welcome to my studio apartment mid-century modern bohemian living room organization and decor tour. I shared a full tour of my 400 square foot southern California studio apartment here. The in-depth video tour of how I organize every nook and cranny of my living room can be found here. This is my very tiny living room. I furnished this entire room through Offerup including the couch which was basically new from Cost Plus World Market. The lady selling it had purchased it for her office. After she unboxed a few months later, she realized it did not suit her office. By that point, it was too late and she was not able to return it. So, I saved $100.00 on this lovely couch. This was the exact couch we wanted to purchase because it fit this tiny living room perfectly. I share where I purchased all the decor, including the furniture, rug, and accessories, here.

Now, let’s get into my living room organization starting with our remotes. This basket and bohemian seashell trivet came in a bundle of baskets I purchased through Offerup. This basket was the perfect and pretty little accent to contain our remotes so we can always find them. I have the rest of the baskets distributed throughout my apartment including a basket collage on my bedroom wall, a footwear basket in my entryway, and a fruit basket in my kitchen.
I made this macrame curtain myself and I organized my daughter’s books here by color. They aren’t the most vivid rainbow, but I think they still look more visually appealing than if they hadn’t been grouped together be color.
Then, here in my coffee table, I contain our pictures and other memorabilia. This middle shelf actually pulls out which is nice for making things easy to access. As an organizing book author, I wonder if people think I should have my pictures perfectly organized in albums and scrap books. However, what I teach in my book, is that you should create systems that work for you. I actually like flipping through old pics when they are stored like this as they are like little surprises when you come across old pictures. I simply sort everything by size with my smallest pictures in the box on the left, larger ones in the box on the right, and the largest items in the box on the bottom shelf. I found my large box at Joann’s Fabrics (they have the best prices, sales, and selection).
Here, again, is my very special couch. It has this lovely, velvety texture. You can see the pretty gold feet more closely here. I love how mid-century modern furniture is set on feet like this because it makes it so easy to clean underneath.
Across from my couch is my dresser. I shared the contents of the six drawers on the left in my bedroom tour here.
In the three drawers on the right, I store my camera equipment. I have these lens bags in the back which contain the lenses in the drawer organizer (I purchased my drawer organizers several years ago) when I place them in my camera bag. The case at the top right is used to contain my lens filters in my camera bag which are also contained in the drawer organizer. The rest of my little camera accessories are stored in these two drawer organizers which contain camera cleaning supplies, my extra battery, and an extender for my tripod. On the left side of the drawer, I contain the manuals for my camera.
This drawer contains extension cords, one each in each of these pouches, which I use for each of my studio lights. The bag below contains the light bulbs for my studio lights. In my bedroom tour, I shared how I store my tripod and light kit under my bed here. I use the black pouch to contain any camera accessories I might want to pack in my camera equipment bags which I store in the drawer below. The pouch underneath contains a hard drive where I store my footage and pictures. And, there is my camera.
In the bottom drawer, I contain the various bags I might need for various purposes. At the top left is my actual camera bag. Sometimes, I might need the bag below it to contain some accessories. And, sometimes, I might need the giant bag on the right because it can contain all of my camera equipment including my camera bag, accessories, tripod, and lighting equipment. Filming requires a lot of gear!
