Folding Techniques for Organizer-Free Drawer Organization
You don’t always have to use drawer organizers to have efficiently organized drawers. My best tip for having pajamas nicely contained is to use my folding techniques which I share here and in my updated video here:
Filing your clothing helps you to see everything at a glance so you don’t have to dig through piles and jumble up your drawers while you try to find what you need. Here is my own drawer with my pajamas stored without organizing products:
I live in southern California so these are all my pajamas. During colder seasons, I simply layer on a robe and I am all set! For those who need lots more layers, I share more organization system tips below.
How to Organize Pajamas in the Closet
In my first few apartments, I lived just fine without a dresser and contained all my clothing, including my pajamas, in my closet. I used the top shelf of my closets along with shelf dividers. The same way that you are able to see all of my pajamas filed in a drawer, they were all visible at a glance folded and piled on my closet shelf between shelf dividers. I share more tips and tricks for how to use shelf dividers here. So, for apartments that have the standard closet rod and shelf across the top, utilizing a closet shelf divider like this can replace the need for a dresser (found here):
If you prefer drawers, a small drawer system, like this one below, might be the perfect solution for you. I suggest keeping pajama tops in one of the larger drawers and pajama bottoms in the other larger drawer. Then, you can store layering items like thermal tops, thermal bottoms, and extra thick socks in the three smaller drawers (found here):
How to Create a Seasonal Storage System
Within your dresser or the drawer system above, you can store the pajamas you need for the current season. Then, you can store your out of season pajamas in a container like this on the top shelf of your closet or linen closet, etc. (found here):
Or, you can use containers like these underneath your bed (found here):
You honestly don’t need any kind of special subdivsion or organization within your out-of-season containers as you aren’t going to be accessing the items contained off season. You simply want to keep your current pajamas organized for easy access to each piece. Labeling your off season container “Out of Season” should be all you need to change out your pajama storage.
