If your dressers and closets are overflowing or jumbled, you’re likely wasting so much time looking for things and also damaging your clothes as they are being jammed and snagged in your closets and dressers. So, we continue my series on clothing organization. I covered shorts organization in my previous post. Here I continue with the best ways to properly organize and store your leggings with folding techniques and organizing solutions from the most lightweight to thicker, longer leggings to maximize space. And, did you know, you can also organize your spaces according to your organizing style? You can find out what your organizing style is here.
Before organizing your leggings, you must purge the ones that you do not like and no longer use. Be ruthless and purge the excess so you can more easily store what you do need and use.
In my freebie library here, I include guides which help walk you through the organizing process and help you decide what to purge and keep. I also include my declutter and organizing challenge calendars and guides to help direct you through each area of your home. These guides ensure you get through every nook and cranny and finally get to the other side of clutter … an organized and functional space!
In this post, we focus on how to organize your leggings. Below, I share ideas on how to organize your leggings with different types of organizing solutions that will work for your organizing styles and spaces. I also share how to organize the rest of your bottoms including skirts, shorts, pants, and jeans.

Leggings Organization
Before you start organizing your leggings, I highly suggest editing your collection. You don’t want to purchase a bunch of organizing solutions to contain leggings you’re not even going to wear. I share my clothing quantities to keep guidelines in my freebie library here. My guide helps you to determine how many of each clothing item to keep based on your lifestyle and how often you are able to do laundry. I also share tips for how to keep your closets from overflowing, yet always have something to wear, here.
Drawer Organizing Solutions
You don’t always have to use drawer organizers to have efficiently organized drawers. My best tip for having leggings nicely contained is to use my folding techniques which I share here and my updated video below. Filing your clothing helps you to see everything at a glance so you don’t have to dig through piles and jumble up your drawers while you try to find what you need. I share how I organize my workout clothes, including my leggings, here.
For the varying sizes and thicknesses of leggings, you can utilize larger drawer organizers to contain thicker, longer leggings and smaller drawer organizers to contain lightweight, shorter leggings (found here):
Hanger Options for Leggings
The hanging solutions I shared for shorts in my previous post also work perfectly well for leggings. An additional hanger style that works for leggings is a hanger like this which keeps your leggings snugly contained so they won’t slip off (found here):
A space-saving solution is a cascading hanger like this (found here):
I share cascading hanger solutions I prefer for other types of clothing in previous posts where the cascading organizing solution is separate from the hangers. Whichever you prefer, the single bar being open on one side makes slipping each pair of leggings on and off super easy.
Small Space Organizing Solutions
If you don’t have a dresser or hanging space in your closet, you can utilize door organizers on your doors or walls. An organizing solution like this can make each pair of leggings visible at a glance with your leggins rolled up in each (found here):
If you have a narrow wall in your closet, you can maximize space by installing this directly on the wall with your leggings rolled up inside (found here) (bonus: they are each visible at a glance through the windowed sections):
I hope you found some ideas for how to organize your leggings for your organizing style and/or the space that you have! In my next post, I share how to organize pants.
