Blouse Organization

Before you start organizing your blouses, I highly suggest editing your collection. You don’t want to purchase a bunch of organizing solutions to contain blouses you’re not even going to wear. I share my clothing quantities to keep guidelines in my freebie library here. My guide helps you to determine how many of each clothing item to keep based on your lifestyle and how often you are able to do laundry.

Hanging vs Folding

I don’t know about you, but I would rather avoid ironing my clothes as much as possible. So, I like to hang all my clothing. The key is to have enough space between each piece so your blouses are not getting crushed and wrinkled. Again, that’s why purging and editing your closet is necessary for removing the excess allowing you more storage space.

To maximixe hanging space, you can install an adjustable closet rod to double your hanging space. To make the best use of being able to adjust the rod height, you can store shorter blouses on your closet rod and adjust the closet rod up to your shorter blouses and store longer blouses underneath or vice versa (found here):

For tops that don’t wrinkle very easily, you can maxmize storage space by utilizing cacading hangers which allow you to hang multiple blouses in the space that one regular hanger would take (found here):

To maximize space even further, you can utilize low profile hangers which shorten hanging space (found here):

I don’t recommend using tree hangers as it is a bit cumbersome trying to remove each blouse from each section (found here):

It is likely that you already have hangers that you can use on the cascading hangers suggested above. Also, cascading hangers allow you to hook one side of the hanger up onto your closet rod so that you can easily select the blouse you need from its specific spot.

By the way, I have very few blouses. With my minimal wardrobe, I am able to make around 240 outfits. I share tips for how to keep your closets from overflowing, yet always have something to wear, here.

I hope you found some ideas for how to organize your blouses for your organizing style and/or the space that you have! In my next post, I share how to organize your outerwear.
